Master Data Management

A major initiative for companies trying to gain control over data, one of
their most valuable assets, is Master data management (MDM). Objects such as
customer, supplier, product, material, employee; are critical to businesses,
but the information is often spread across heterogeneous silos within the
enterprise
IBM Multiform MDM addresses and solves the root cause of master data
complexity—how data is created, accessed, managed and analyzed. Multiform
MDM centralizes the common data functionality dealing with master data. It
allows enterprises to identify common functionality for all systems and
applications by supporting the various ways in which those applications use
master data. Multiform MDM moves beyond previous attempts at centralizing
control of data by allowing users to fully manage data with multiple domains
and multiple styles (types of data usage) and centralizes both the master
data and the functionality that manages it.
